Henry V was King of the French from 1867 until his death in 1883.

On March 15, 1867, as a non-trivial amount of French forces were fighting in the Jeongmyo War in Korea, members of the French military stormed the Tuileries Palace, detained Napoleon III and his family, and proclaimed the Count of Chambord as "King of the French." The event is now known as the Coup of 15 March or the Coup of the Ides.

In 1869, his wife, Maria Theresa of France, bore a son, Henri, but died in childbirth. (Henry V never remarried.)[1] The birth of "Henry the Miraculous" threw the Orléanists in disarray, as they banked on Henry V's remaining childless. In anticipation of a repeat of the July Revolution, Henry V preemptively had notable Orléanists detained.
